father of shooting victim heckled by gun activists because they have nothing better to do and obviously have very small penises

No other debate causes me to cower as much as the one over gun control; there is no other debate in this country that is as acutely illogical as this one. Gun manufacturers in the name of the NRA have co-opted the discussion and turned it into one so expressively loaded, pardon the pun, it’s impossible to have a coherent dialogue.

Rational people know that military-style weapons aren’t used for hunting anything but human beings. It used to be accepted wisdom that we don’t hunt our fellow humans. That doesn’t really hold true now.

As lawmakers were taking testimony in Connecticut yesterday, the gun manufacturers were ready to fight for their right to bear arms. We witnessed that there is no low too low for this ilk, and no position too absurd. Until these “gun enthusiasts” have had the pleasure of gathering the body of a loved one from a public crime scene where some idiot exercising his rights decided to exercise them on the heads of the innocent, they can shut up about their fantasies of revolution and sit the hell down.

Screw all of them for belittling that father’s grief and loss so they can hold onto their precious guns. No one will lose their damned handguns and rifles. What about my rights? At the very least, I have the right to take my kids to a movie theater or shopping in the mall without worrying that they’re going to find ourselves on the business end of an AR-15.

  1. “Rational people know that military-style weapons aren’t used for hunting anything but human beings…”

Check out the Remington R25 based on the AR-15 and designed for hunting (animals, not humans). The AR-15 semi-auto design is quickly becoming the hunting rilfe of choice of many people and it is an accelerating trend. In carbine form with a retractable buttstock it is also an idea weapon for home defense.

Lightweight with a pistol grip and easily modified by owners to suit their needs it is an ideal design for both hunting and self defense.

“No one will lose their damned handguns and rifles.

That is exactly what many politicians are pushing for. Boxer, Schumer, Feinstein, Obama, etc.

    “What about my rights?”

Which right is that? You have the right – guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment – to keep and bear arms for your own protection and that is your personal and moral responsibility. You don’t have a right to be safe and secure if you are not willing to participate in your own protection and the protection of your community.

Maybe you ought to get a concealed carry license and protect your kids? That is what I do.

Speaking of theaters and malls and other public places, the head of INTERPOL said the following the other day:

    -quoting-

Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble said that in free societies, governments have only two viable options for addressing attacks on civilians: “One is to say we want an armed citizenry; you can see the reason for that,” he said, alluding to the positive impact of a few civilian gun owners during the assault and siege on the Westgate Mall in Kenya last month. “Another is to say the enclaves are so secure that in order to get into the soft target you’re going to have to pass through extraordinary security.” Security that he indicated would be unfeasibly prohibitive in costs of both money and liberty.

I wasn’t there and didn’t see the event you were talking about – the hecklers. Here is my take. They weren’t so much heckling the fathers as victims, but for allowing themselves and their tragedies to be used as tools for a political agenda.
